War Thunder 2.59.0.62 Adds Air Superiority Bomb Targets

War Thunder update 2.59.0.62 changes how several air battles play and sound. Gaijin Entertainment has added bombing bases to Air Superiority missions on seven maps, while a cockpit-audio adjustment makes rushing air override engines, missiles and other sounds during flight.

Seven Air Superiority maps gain bombing bases

The new bombing targets appear in Air Superiority missions on Britain, Kursk, Malta, Mozdok, Stalingrad (Winter), Vietnam and Smolensk. The official notes do not set out scoring values or respawn rules for the bases, so the confirmed change is narrower: these maps now present bombing targets where that mission configuration previously lacked them.

That gives bomber and strike-aircraft crews another task to consider alongside the mode’s existing air combat. It may also change which routes draw attention early in a match, although Gaijin has not claimed a broader balance revision. Players should avoid assuming the same base layout applies to other modes or maps not named in the notes.

Cockpit airflow is no longer tied to engine volume

Opening an aircraft or helicopter cockpit in flight now causes rushing airflow to drown out other sounds, including engines and missiles. Before this patch, the effect was governed by the player’s engine-volume setting. The change therefore separates the airflow behavior from that slider rather than introducing a new user-facing audio control.

The sound update also gives Indonesian ground-vehicle crews their own voice-over. Gaijin replaced the Harimau’s engine sound with what the developer describes as a better-fitting version. The notes do not identify new recording sources or claim that every vehicle in the Indonesian lineup received a mechanical-audio revision.

The patch also addresses graphics and stability

At sea, the update corrects foam and spray effects that could display incorrectly beneath firing ship guns. On the client side, Gaijin says it fixed one possible cause of a freeze after returning to the game with Alt+Tab. The wording matters: the note addresses a possible cause, not every potential Alt+Tab failure.

Gaijin also cautions that this list covers key changes rather than every improvement. Some server-side adjustments may arrive without a client download, and the developer says it prioritizes fixes according to their impact. For players troubleshooting a problem after the update, the precise build number is the useful reference: these notes apply to version 2.59.0.62.
