Astral Ascent’s October Hotfixes Add a Clair Obscur Boss Route and Repair Co-op Bugs

Astral Ascent has folded a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 crossover into its runs while using six October hotfixes to repair a broad set of co-op faults. Hibernian Workshop’s official notes list the crossover as the headline addition, but much of the update is devoted to cases where Player 2’s attacks, effects or defensive states were handled as if they belonged to Player 1.

How the crossover route works

The new room choice becomes available after a player clears a first run. Once unlocked, it can appear at the ninth room of a random world as an alternative to Andromeda’s Bar. Choosing it starts a fight against Mimes, Pétank or Golgra, each with a separate mechanic.

The paired Mimes must be defeated together because a surviving Mime can withdraw and recover health. Pétank alternates between offensive and defensive behavior. Golgra uses irregular attack timing, receives help from Gestrals in the arena and becomes more aggressive after reaching half health.

Winning sends the player to The Campfire. The room provides healing and Aura options before offering three of six crossover heroes for that run. Their benefits depend on different conditions: Gustave builds toward a finishing attack, Sciel cycles through Moon, Sun and Twilight cards, and Verso’s rank rises when attacks connect but falls when he takes damage. The official notes also describe roles for Maelle, Lune and Monoco.

Why co-op players should check the update

The fixes cover more than isolated visual errors. Several Player 2 effects previously spawned on Player 1, while some cooldowns, perks and Aura checks read Player 1’s statistics instead. The notes also identify damage-credit errors affecting abilities such as Ayla’s Phantom Daggers and a range of summons, spells and weapon effects.

Later hotfixes address room and boss problems around the crossover. They correct cases where a co-op player could become trapped outside a boss arena, where Player 2 could lose access to a hero choice, and where some Pétank, Mime and Golgra behaviors could misfire. Hotfix 2.7.6 also makes both players invincible at the end of boss fights and when leaving Andromeda’s Trials, closing two situations in which Player 2 could still take damage.

The crossover supplies a new optional route after the first completed run. The accompanying fixes target co-op state, ownership and survivability. Players returning specifically for the collaboration should install the current update before starting a shared run.
