Permafrost Hotfix Fixes Quest Blocks and Steam Invites

A survivor crossing the frozen landscape in Permafrost

SpaceRocket Games has issued a Permafrost hotfix aimed at stalled quests and unreliable multiplayer invitations. The update is live for the survival game’s Steam Early Access build, which launched on October 9.

Three quest paths get targeted repairs

The clearest fix concerns “Hopes and Dreams,” which could refuse to complete. There is one important exception: players who collected the affected recording before installing this hotfix may still have a blocked save. SpaceRocket says it is preparing a separate repair for those saves in the next patch.

The update also allows “High Frequency” to finish while “Hopes and Dreams” remains active. For three other quests—”Breaking the Radio Silence,” “The Way Home” and “Rise Above the Cold”—the game now offers a recovery route when a required key is missing from both the player’s inventory and the reward chest. Speaking to Anna or Skinwalker should supply a replacement.

Steam invitations now have a stated requirement

Players can join through the Steam friends list or accept an invitation sent in Steam chat. The joining player must launch Permafrost first and wait at the main menu. That condition matters when diagnosing a failed invitation: an invite sent before the recipient reaches the menu is not covered by the fix described in the patch notes.

Crafting, language and stability fixes

Smaller changes address several interface and localization faults. Pinned crafting recipes should work again, and the quest tracker should refresh after the language is changed. The patch corrects oversized or bold Chinese text in some screens, translates the Cold Resistance label in the inventory, and translates the time unit shown on building and cooking progress bars.

SpaceRocket also reports a fix for a crash tied to workbench crafting and an improvement to building-preview visuals. The notes do not claim that every known problem is resolved. The developer points players to its Known Issues list for remaining workarounds and says further quest repairs are still in progress.

This is a corrective hotfix rather than a content update. Players with a pre-patch “Hopes and Dreams” recording should wait for the promised save-specific fix instead of assuming the current build will repair that state automatically.
