Once Human’s October 21 Update Adds a Frost Vortex Rifle and New Armor

Once Human character in an official gameplay scene

Once Human is adding a rifle and armor piece built around Frost Vortex and Ice Spear effects in its October 21 update. Starry Studio’s official developer blog names the weapon SOCR – Cosmic Visitor and the armor Snowline Elite Vest. Both additions reward players for generating Frost Vortices, but they do so in different ways.

What Cosmic Visitor does

Cosmic Visitor is an SOCR rifle whose effects begin with ordinary weapon hits. A hit can generate a Frost Vortex, while the first hit after a reload is guaranteed to trigger one. That guarantee gives the reload cycle a clear purpose: it provides a predictable way to start the weapon’s Frost interactions rather than leaving every activation to chance.

The rifle also launches Ice Spears. Repeated hits can fire a spear that locks onto its target, then explodes on impact. Generating a Frost Vortex causes additional spears to attack visible targets automatically. A kill can produce another automatic volley, although the studio says that trigger has a short cooldown.

Starry Studio classifies Ice Spear as an Ice Construct and says it benefits from the corresponding keyword effects. The announcement does not provide final numerical values for several triggers, including the hit requirement and spear count. Players will need the live item details after the update to judge its damage and consistency.

How the Snowline Elite Vest supports the build

The Snowline Elite Vest changes what happens when a Frost Vortex appears. Its key effect makes that vortex’s triggered effects activate one additional time without creating another vortex. It also grants a stacking increase to Frost Vortex damage whenever one is generated. The bonus can reach five stacks, and each stack lasts five seconds.

That design makes the two items complementary on paper. Cosmic Visitor supplies several ways to create a vortex or capitalize on one, while the vest repeats triggered effects and rewards rapid vortex generation. The official post describes the mechanics, not a complete build or balance assessment, so comparisons with existing Frost equipment should wait until the October 21 version is available.

The date in the developer blog is listed in Pacific Time. Starry Studio has not supplied detailed acquisition requirements in this announcement, so it is not yet clear whether the rifle and vest will come from crafting, drops, a reward track or another system.
