Marvel’s Wolverine now gives players more control over several guidance effects that appear during exploration. Insomniac Games added the options in update 1.001.006, separating optional collectible cues from the Senses effects needed to follow the story.
The new settings cover three features: Whisky Bottle Scent Trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. Each can be switched on or off. Insomniac’s notes also make an important exception clear: story-critical Senses still appear in the world, so disabling the optional aids does not remove every trail or prompt tied to mission progress.
What the settings change
The update is narrower than a redesign of Wolverine’s tracking system. It lets players reduce specific visual or audio hints when searching for collectibles and interacting with Nightmare Doors. Players who prefer stronger assistance can leave the cues enabled. The official notes do not describe changes to rewards, collectible locations, or mission objectives.
IGN’s report highlights a second limitation. The Whisky Finder and Crate Finder Adaptations can override the relevant settings, meaning an equipped ability may restore a cue that was disabled in the general options. Players who still see one of those effects should check both the Senses menu and their active Adaptations before treating it as a bug.
Crashes and visual bugs also addressed
Version 1.001.006 includes several fixes beyond the new toggles. Insomniac says it addressed crashes identified through crash logs and community reports. The patch also fixes a point in “The One That Got Away” where Logan could become stuck while sliding down a tree.
Photo Mode should no longer show claws out of alignment. A rare issue that turned objects white after extended sessions is listed as fixed, as is an overlapping bathroom sign in the casino caused by a UV-mapping problem. Insomniac does not provide reproduction steps or platform-specific qualifiers for those fixes in the published notes.
For players adjusting the new options, the practical distinction is straightforward: collectible and environmental guidance can be reduced, but required story guidance remains. That boundary avoids presenting the update as a complete switch for every use of Senses.
