Warhammer 3 Patch 9.0.3 Eases Nagash’s Early Campaign

Total War: Warhammer III battlefield scene

Creative Assembly has released Patch 9.0.3 for Total War: Warhammer III, with the largest campaign changes aimed at Nagash. The update also adjusts battle balance, revises the Lore of Nehekhara and fixes crashes, campaign problems and combat bugs.

Nagash gets a less restrictive opening

An early Black Pyramid node now cuts Nagash’s upkeep by 40%. Early Tomb Kings, Vampire Coast and Vampire Counts sections of the pyramid provide a 10% upkeep reduction when the army is led by Nagash or a matching lord type. Post-battle income is unchanged on Very Hard and Legendary, but rises by 5% on Hard, 10% on Normal and 20% on Easy.

Sigil progression is faster as well. Subjugating a Legendary Lord through the Mortarchs panel now awards 10 Sigils instead of five. Nagashizzar and the Black Pyramid generate more Sigils at every listed tier, while standard Necropolises receive smaller increases. New campaigns need 100 Necromantic Energy, down from 200, to unlock Sigils in the Necromancy panel.

Mortarch objectives no longer require the target to own no more than five regions. Nagash must instead control more than three times as many regions as that Mortarch. Creative Assembly also removed most location-specific objectives in favor of goals that can be completed elsewhere. These objective changes apply only to new campaigns, so existing progress is not rewritten.

Battle changes reach Empire, Skaven and undead magic

The Empire’s Crush the Weak ability now builds while a unit is winning in melee, reaching up to 15% extra weapon strength and eight melee attack. On the Skaven side, Protection of the Horned Rat has had its maximum missile resistance cut from 60% to 30% for Verminlords and Skreech Verminking. The Warp-Doom Magma Cannon also costs 150 gold more.

The Lore of Nehekhara changes include contact-effect immunity for Neru’s Incantation of Protection and 15 reload skill for both versions of Ptra’s Incantation of Righteous Smiting. Usekhp’s Incantation of Desiccation now applies a one-percent-per-second vigour penalty.

Fixes cover saves, recruitment and quests

Patch 9.0.3 fixes several campaign crashes and restores items and ancillaries to Legendary Lords and Heroes confederated after their faction was destroyed. Warriors of Chaos can recruit after losing their lord, and the Gotrek and Felix quest battle should now end when its objectives are complete. Creative Assembly is directing players who find new problems to its Warhammer III support forum.
