Order of the Sinking Star launched on October 8 for PC through Steam, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The puzzle adventure is the first game directed by Jonathan Blow since The Witness, and its publisher says the project spent a decade in development.
A large puzzle game built for detours
The headline figure is more than 1,000 handcrafted puzzles spread across four worlds. Those areas have different rules, hazards and characters, but they are connected by a central hub. The structure is deliberately non-linear: when one puzzle stops a player’s progress, the official description says they can move to another world and return later.
That freedom is important because this is not presented as a short sequence of isolated challenges. The game layers new mechanics onto earlier ideas and lets them overlap in regions between the four main worlds. Story details are delivered through exploration, written clues and voiced narration rather than a fixed level-by-level route.
Platforms and launch details
The Steam version costs $29.99 in the United States at launch and is listed as Steam Deck Verified. The official announcement also names GeForce NOW as a streaming option. Store availability and pricing can vary by region, so the relevant platform storefront remains the dependable place to check local terms.
Arc Games published three discounted Steam bundles for the launch: one pairs the game with Mewgenics, another with Animal Well, and a third includes the original soundtrack. Those bundles are optional; the base game and soundtrack are also listed separately.
What the official material confirms
The Steam listing identifies Thekla as the developer and Arc Games and Gamirror Games as publishers. It describes a single-player adventure with full controller support, Steam Cloud and more than 1,000 interconnected puzzles. The launch notice also lists a voiced cast that includes Emily O’Brien, Liam O’Brien, Darin De Paul, Anjali Bhimani, Erica Luttrell and Matthew Waterson.
The official sources support the launch date, platform list and feature claims. They do not establish how long most players will need to finish the game or whether its difficulty will suit a particular audience. Those judgments require independent play rather than publisher material.
