War Selection Automates Gate Control and Reworks Destruction Physics

Glyph Worlds has released a new update for War Selection, its free-to-play real-time strategy game on Steam Early Access. The October 10, 2026 patch adds automatic gate control, a set of interface improvements, and a rework of how destroyed vehicles, ships, and siege engines break apart.

Automatic gates and clearer unit information

Gates can now be switched to automatic mode, opening when the player’s units or allied units approach and closing after they leave. Target-based abilities now support repeated presses to set the number of uses, letting players pick a single shared target or location for every use in one click. Selected units with long reload times show a weapon readiness bar below their health bar, and units bound to number keys gain a control group panel with unit icons and counts. The F1 overview now reports income and spending per minute, the total number of combat units and their population cost, and the count of iron mines and quarries.

Reworked destruction and balance changes

The movement of debris from vehicles, ships, and siege engines has been reworked so that falling and sliding pieces account for their own shape and the terrain. Bodies and debris now collide with buildings and vehicle wrecks, large pieces of debris collide with one another, and falling aircraft leave a smoke trail. On the balance side, the Deafening effect now also reduces a target’s turning speed to 35 percent of its normal value. Horsemen, camels, elephants, boars, mammoths, and bears now take 80 percent of the original damage from bullets and arrows, with armor subtracted after the reduction, while Ballista, Catapult, and Onager take 60 percent. The grenade launcher operator now costs 260 material instead of 300, trains in 34 seconds instead of 40, and deals 60 damage to buildings instead of 90.

The patch also optimizes performance in large battles with many units, effects, and pieces of debris, prioritizing models and textures that are needed immediately. War Selection remains free to play in Steam Early Access, where Glyph Worlds has continued to ship regular balance and quality-of-life updates.

The automatic gate option cuts down the manual work of opening and closing walls during defense, while the reduced damage that mounted units and siege weapons take from bullets and arrows makes them survive longer under ranged fire. The grenade launcher operator’s lower building damage also changes how useful the unit is against structures.
