The Wolf Among Us Remastered Comes to PS5 on October 29

Bigby Wolf in The Wolf Among Us Remastered

The Wolf Among Us Remastered will launch for PlayStation 5 on October 29. Telltale’s updated version keeps the original story, direction and visual identity intact while rebuilding the presentation around newer character models, shaders and lighting.

The date comes from an official PlayStation Blog interview with game director Matt Saia, who is also Telltale’s vice president of creative. The announcement identifies PS5 as the launch platform and says the game is available to add to a wishlist. It does not provide a price or confirm versions for other platforms.

The story is staying as it was

Telltale has chosen not to rewrite or redirect the episodic mystery. Saia said the team treated the story, directorial decisions and overall art style as fixed parts of the original. The work instead focused on presenting the same adventure with more detailed assets and additional behind-the-scenes material.

Every character moved through a new production process from concept art to a high-detail model and then an in-game version. Telltale says the textures and models are new and several times more detailed than their original counterparts. Bigby’s werewolf form was redesigned to look more feral and powerful without changing the character’s role.

Noir Mode changes the palette, not the plot

A separate Noir Mode renders the game in black and white. It follows the visual idea behind the Shadows Mode Saia previously added to Telltale’s Batman games, but without that mode’s selective color highlights. The result is intended to resemble a monochrome noir film rather than a new campaign or alternate story path.

The technical update goes further than a resolution increase. The team moved the game to the later version of Telltale’s engine used for the Batman series, developed new shaders and relit every scene. One example in the interview concerns inverted line work on moving objects, which helps outlined details remain readable as an object changes position.

What remains unconfirmed

The official announcement does not list a frame-rate target, supported display modes, upgrade path or price. It also does not say whether owners of an earlier release will receive a discount. Those details should be treated as open questions until Telltale or the PlayStation Store publishes them.

For returning players, the main distinction is straightforward: this is the original season with rebuilt presentation and an optional monochrome treatment, not a substitute for the separately announced sequel.
