Mega Crit has offered a small glimpse of what may be coming to Slay the Spire 2, while stopping short of announcing a patch date or formally naming new playable content. The studio’s September newsletter revives its “Spire Spotting” feature with the silhouette of a creature found in a part of the Spire that remains hidden from view.
What Mega Crit actually showed
The teaser describes an area “still shrouded in darkness” and a resident that appears small, floating, excitable, and almost cute. That language is deliberately suggestive rather than definitive. Mega Crit did not identify the creature, explain its role, or confirm whether the setting is a full act, an encounter, or something else. For now, the firm information is limited to the silhouette and the studio’s description.
Players have been invited to submit drawings interpreting the creature before October 8. The exercise makes the teaser interactive, but it should not be read as a complete content announcement. No release window, gameplay rules, rewards, or patch number accompanied it.
Development has resumed, with timing still open
The same update says Mega Crit has returned from a team break and resumed work on secret features, game modes, content, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. Some of that work is already being tested internally, according to the studio. However, Mega Crit also says it cannot yet provide specific details or a timeline for the next patch.
That distinction matters for an Early Access game. Internal testing shows that development is active, but it does not establish when a feature will reach the public branch or whether every experiment will ship in its current form. The newsletter is best treated as a progress signal and a controlled tease, not a roadmap revision.
Where the game stands
Slay the Spire 2 entered Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026. Its store listing identifies Mega Crit as both developer and publisher and describes the sequel as a roguelike deckbuilder built around deck construction, unusual creatures, and relics. The September note indicates broader work is underway, but players waiting for a concrete update schedule will need a later announcement.
