Rocktoberfest is back in Deep Rock Galactic. Ghost Ship Games started the annual fall event on Thursday, September 24 at 13:00 CEST, and it runs for two weeks, layering new cosmetics and Double XP on top of the co-op mining shooter.
Completing this year’s Rocktoberfest Assignment rewards a new hat called the Freihand Tap Cap. A second “Hunt for Lederhosen” Assignment lets any player who does not own a pair of Lederhosen earn one, and it also hands out previous years’ Rocktoberfest hats to anyone who missed them. Both assignments stay available for the full two-week window.
Double XP rides on the event’s signature drink. Best Wurst Beer, which Ghost Ship Games describes as a lager served with a sausage in the same mug, is back on tap at the Abyss Bar in the Space Rig. Digging up and depositing a Wurst Stein mug during a mission grants the entire team Double XP for that mission, and the bar is dressed for fall with checkered tablecloths and novelty pretzels.
The same Steam Community announcement that confirmed the event also pointed toward a larger reveal. Ghost Ship Games said it will share “big news” for Deep Rock Galactic during Coffee Stain Publishing’s Big Break Showcase, which premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 19:00 CEST / 10:00 AM PDT on Coffee Stain’s YouTube channel.
The studio has not specified what the news will cover. The Big Break is a publisher-wide showcase of trailers, announcements, and updates, and Deep Rock Galactic is one of several games scheduled to appear. In a post headlined “Prepare yourself for THE BIG BREAK this Tuesday, Sep. 29th,” Ghost Ship Games wrote, “We’re very excited to make our announcement.” Viewers who tune in live can enter giveaways of Coffee Stain titles, and the studio published an Official Big Break Bingo Sheet to follow along. A recording of the showcase will be available on YouTube afterward.
