Every Modern Warfare 4 Launch Map and Mode, From Cachette to Kill Block

Activision’s October 21 multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare 4 lays out the full launch package: 12 Core 6v6 maps, three Ground War maps, four Gunfight arenas, and Kill Block, a map that rebuilds itself between rounds. The game launches October 23 as a standalone release, and Shipment follows on October 27.

The 12 Core Maps and Their Settings

The Core 6v6 list is Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm, and Transit 213. Ground War adds Imjin Farmland, Wolves Stadium, and Forest, while Gunfight opens with Cafe, Library, NYC, and Smuggler. Several maps share a Korean setting. Lotus is a fishing village scarred by an amphibious assault, Nautical puts the fight on a ferry pulling away from a conflict zone at dawn, and Reactor U92 is a reactor complex that has gone nuclear, with a boiling containment pool as the meltdown epicenter.

Kill Block Breaks the Map Template

Kill Block, also called the Westbridge Training Facility, is the outlier. It reconfigures between rounds and supports 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight at launch, with more than 500 combinations that mix new sections and pieces drawn from Crash, Highrise, and Shoot House. Sightlines and routes reset every round, so a window that was safe in round one can become a fatal lane in round two, and a Shoot House callout only works when that section lands in the same rotation.

Four New Modes Rewrite Match Flow

Inflation ties cash to risk: eliminations drop a portion of the victim’s cash, and players above the High Value Target threshold have their position revealed to both teams. Hijack makes one carryable Data Spike the whole objective, to be thrown and passed before planting at the enemy Comm Station, where a completed upload needs a sustained defense to stop a defuse. Collateral imports a buy phase into Search and Destroy, starting players with a Pistol and $800 and letting them spend between rounds while keeping earned cash after death. Combat Outpost applies the same logic to 32v32 Ground War, where reinforcing captured Outposts unlocks team rewards from UAV coverage to a Light Tank.

Returning Modes and What Arrives After Launch

Frontline, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Gunfight, Gun Game, Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, and Free-For-All all return, and Hardcore variants trim the HUD, enable friendly fire, and drop health regeneration. Proving Grounds ships a movement course with tutorials and timed runs players can chase an S Rating on. Shipment lands October 27 in classic form on a Russian harbor, and the party modes Possession and Infected arrive for Halloween ahead of Season 1. What the first season adds is still unannounced: no roadmap, no maps beyond the launch set plus Shipment, and no confirmation that Kill Block gains more borrowed sections.
