Helldivers 2 Update 7.2.0 Buffs Crossover Weapons and Makes the Bile Strain a Readable Mission Condition

Arrowhead Game Studios shipped Helldivers 2 update 7.2.0, named Devoid of Liberty, on October 20, 2026. The official patch notes lead with three additions — Easy Anti-Cheat, the Scope of Authority Premium Warbond, and a wide weapon and stratagem pass — but the changes worth studying are the ones where Arrowhead spells out the design problem it set out to fix.

The largest rework addresses the Killzone and Halo Legendary warbond weapons. None of them can use the game’s weapon customization system, so they had fallen behind comparable guns that accept attachments. Instead of adding customization, Arrowhead raised base stats. The M90A Shotgun climbs from 605 to 726 damage, the StA-52 Assault Rifle gains a spare magazine while its recoil values roughly halve, and the MA5C Assault Rifle and StA-11 SMG pick up smaller stability and damage bumps.

The PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle gets a narrower rework aimed at making it a true precision weapon. Reload time drops from 3.3 to 2.7 seconds, and projectile stagger falls from 20 to 15. Arrowhead explains that high stagger knocked enemies off their weak-point alignment after the first hit, so follow-up shots missed; lowering it keeps targets in place.

The LAS-16 and LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle both fire sooner after the trigger and begin cooling faster, at 0.66 seconds instead of 1.33. The LAS-16 also spends less heat per shot. Light-penetration pellet shotguns, including the SG-8 Punisher and SG-225 Breaker, gain raw damage so they no longer trail medium-penetration and status-effect options.

One change affects how missions are understood rather than how weapons perform. The bile bug strain, made up of Bile Warriors, Spewers, and Scavengers, used to activate at random, so two identical missions could differ with no explanation. Arrowhead has split it into its own strain controlled by the Game Masters and given it an in-mission visualization that shows when it is active, turning a hidden roll into a readable condition.

Stratagems receive a similar mix of tuning and fixes. The Orbital Airburst Strike cooldown drops from 100 to 90 seconds, and its explosion cone tightens from 35 to 27 degrees to counter a wider shrapnel spread caused by the new Super Destroyer positioning. Heavy mounted flamethrowers, the EXO-51 Lumberer Exosuit and the A/FLAM-40 Flame Sentry, rise from 3 to 8 flame particle damage, and Eagle Airstrike Gas loses demolition strength so it only levels what other Eagle bombs can.

The release also bundles crash fixes, DirectX 12 stability work, CPU multithreading improvements aimed at lower core-count CPUs and Xbox Series S, and restored color grading when NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR upscaling is enabled.
