Halo Studios’ Final Canon Fodder Sets Out the Stories Still Planned

Two Banshees fly toward the Halo ring horizon in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Halo Studios has published what its writers describe as the final issue of Canon Fodder, closing the long-running lore column with a detailed list of fiction and reference projects that are still intended for release. The update arrives amid a change in stewardship for the series, but it is careful to distinguish finished work from projects whose completion remains an intention.

Several books remain on the schedule

The clearest commitments concern projects already far along. The studio says Halo: Parasite’s Wake is complete, has been printed, and remains due on October 20. The Master Chief Omnibus and its full-cast dramatized audio version of The Fall of Reach are both listed for November 10. The issue also schedules several new Waypoint Chronicles between November 2 and December 8.

Two 2027 books carry more cautious language. The team says it intends to get Troy Denning’s Halo: Fireteam Noble across the finish line and notes that a substantial part of its editorial process is complete. It also introduces Kenneth Peters’ novella Halo: Burn the Road Home, while saying that project is likewise intended for completion. Neither book receives a specific 2027 date in the published roadmap.

The final issue leaves new lore on the record

The article is not only a release calendar. It clarifies continuity questions raised by Halo: Campaign Evolved, explains the Sacristan Order’s structure, and records revisions prepared for the Master Chief omnibus. It also publishes new official artwork and story material for figures and locations including the Primordial, the Xalanyn, Zeta Halo, and the damaged UNSC Infinity.

That distinction matters because the update mixes completed products, scheduled digital stories, and work that the departing writers hope will continue. The roadmap should not be read as a guarantee that every undated 2027 item will ship unchanged. What the issue does establish is the state of those projects at publication: some are complete, some have dates, and others remain active intentions.

The closing note says Canon Fodder could return under another author, but issue 171 is the end of the current run. For readers tracking Halo fiction, it functions as both a farewell and a record of the material the outgoing team says is still in motion.
