Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles has received its largest Xbox update to date, bringing the console build in line with the PC development version. Solo developer Tomas Sala announced the release alongside two add-ons, Medieval Houses and Verne Bannerless.
Building tools get fewer limits
The update expands the construction side of the sandbox with curved walls that can vary in type, length and angle. Players can also upgrade surveyors, including a new large surveyor called the Behemoth, and plant Arbology towers that generate trees around settlements. Sala’s announcement presents these features as part of the game’s continued development since its 2024 release, shaped in part by player feedback.
Water rendering and waves have also been revised. More significantly for movement, any ship assigned to a trade route owned by the player can now be selected and sailed. There is a consequence to using those vessels in combat: if one sinks, its captain is removed.
War now involves more mobile forces
Combat changes give enemy units more ways to respond. Forces can attack and then return to defend their settlements, patrol ships can engage an opposing settlement or reinforce a defense, and fortresses may blockade trade routes. Escort commands now include a formation that concentrates fire near the cursor and a loose formation that lets escorts choose targets independently.
These changes broaden the decisions available during a conflict, but the official announcement does not provide balance data or performance comparisons. Players will need live play and later patch notes to judge how the revised systems behave across longer campaigns.
What the two DLC packs contain
Medieval Houses adds six timber-clad structures for players who want a high-fantasy style for their settlements. Verne Bannerless focuses on military units: the Bannerless Corsair warbird, the Verne Missile ship and the Piranha Fast airship.
Xbox Wire lists the update and both DLC packs as available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The base game remains a $19.99 sandbox builder on the linked Xbox store listing, while regional pricing and platform availability should be checked on the relevant storefront before purchase.
