Monster Hunter Rise has passed 20 million copies sold, according to a new announcement from Capcom. The publisher marked the total with celebratory artwork and a short message thanking the players it called the hunters of Kamura.
Capcom’s update confirms one clear milestone
The announcement establishes a worldwide lifetime sales threshold for the base game. Capcom did not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown, a regional split, or a new figure for the Sunbreak expansion. It also did not attach the milestone to a particular promotion. Those omissions make the total useful as a measure of long-term reach, but not as a snapshot of current player activity or revenue.
Rise began as a Nintendo Switch release in 2021 before expanding to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Its Steam version arrived in January 2022, and Capcom’s current store listing continues to present the game as a cooperative action RPG built around hunting large monsters, crafting equipment from gathered materials, and returning to Kamura Village between quests.
A five-year sales run now has a new marker
Crossing 20 million copies more than five years after the original launch shows that sales continued well beyond the initial Switch window. Later platform releases gave the game several additional audiences, while Sunbreak extended its progression with Master Rank hunts and a separate expansion campaign. The newly announced number applies to Monster Hunter Rise itself rather than a combined base-game-and-expansion total.
Capcom’s post is brief, so the milestone should not be stretched into claims about which platform contributed most or how many people are still playing. What it does confirm is that the base game has moved beyond the 20 million mark. The result adds a fresh benchmark to the game’s commercial history without changing any announced content plans. The accompanying image is commemorative artwork rather than a roadmap, and the post contains no announcement of another update, port, or expansion.
