Albion Online’s Dragonfire Patch 2 changes the risk and reward of several activities. Released September 23, the update raises chest payouts in Ancient Lands, Dragon Sanctuary, and Outlands Dragon Attacks. It also introduces Item Freeze for orange-zone Ancient Lands, separating gear brought through the portal from loot collected inside.

Chest rewards rise across Dragonfire activities

Medium Ancient Lands chests now carry roughly 50 percent more non-Drake loot. Large Ancient Lands chests receive a larger change, with base loot up by roughly 140 percent. Dragon Sanctuary base chest loot rises by 100 percent on average, and the final chest has a roughly 400 percent higher chance to contain a Drake Egg. Base chest loot from Outlands Dragon Attacks is approximately doubled.

New Dragon item drop chances have not increased. Sandbox Interactive kept those rates in place to protect the value of items such as Dragon Armor. Dragon Attacks now award Fame through the Might payout instead of placing non-tradable Tomes of Insight in a chest. That means participation determines the Fame payout rather than which player opens the reward.

Item Freeze narrows the orange-zone risk

When players enter an orange-zone Ancient Land, everything already in their inventory becomes frozen and will not drop on death. Items collected after entry remain unfrozen and can still be lost. The distinction makes the portal entry state easy to understand: equipment and supplies brought in are protected, while the expedition’s gains remain at stake.

Island chests outside the center island now unlock only after the island quest is completed. The change prevents a player from taking the main reward while leaving the objective, including work toward summoning the Fire Drake, to everyone else.

Encounters receive targeted tuning

Giants have a shorter aggro range, reduced from 11 meters to eight. Spirit Weaver’s Drowsy Essence sleep lasts two seconds instead of four. The Maeve fight in Dragon Sanctuary has wider recovery windows and a more gradual pace increase, while Lingering Dragon Spirit is less potent. The patch also adds a Bleedout revival animation.

Season 33 winner statues for Upside, Contingent, and The Flying Dutchman I now stand in Conqueror’s Hall. Loadouts can be shared outside the client and created from the clipboard, and Leyfin fish join Laborer Journal rewards. The full patch also contains combat balance changes and bug fixes, so players should review their loadouts before returning to contested activities.
