SWTOR Gives Subscribers the Meirm Cicada GT Mount Ahead of a November 12 Name Release

SWTOR Meirm Cicada GT mount with rider and companion

Star Wars: The Old Republic is rewarding active subscribers with a returning mount and clearing out long-dormant character names as the MMO builds toward its 15th anniversary. Electronic Arts and Broadsword laid out both changes in an October 14 announcement, and the key deadline for players is November 12, 2026.

The subscriber reward is the Meirm Cicada GT, a GT variant of the Meirm Cicada mount that first appeared years ago. Anyone with an active subscription between October 14 and 11:00 a.m. CT on November 12 (3:00 p.m. UTC) receives it automatically. The GT works as both a minipet and a companion-compatible mount, though larger companions such as B3-S1 will not fit in the passenger seat.

The more consequential change is the name release. Starting November 12, 2026, character names from free-to-play and preferred accounts that have not been logged into since January 1, 2026 will be moved into an unreserved pool where other players can claim them. Subscribers are untouched: every character name on an active subscription is preserved.

The rule applies character by character, so a free-to-play or preferred player who wants to keep several names must log into each of those characters before the cutoff. If a name is released, that player gets a free rename when logging back in. To claim a released name, players either create a new character or buy the Rename: Character Name Consumable, which is discounted 90% for one week after November 12.

Two new subscription bundles are also live: the Rejoin the Fight: Welcome Home bundle and the Master the Fight: Prepare for Battle bundle. Both include fixed subscription time and grant the Meirm Cicada GT, so either bundle doubles as a way to secure character names.

The practical checklist is simple. Subscribers do nothing, while free-to-play and preferred players should log in with every character they want to keep before November 12. The window is roughly a month, and the free rename plus the discounted consumable give players who lose a name a straightforward recovery path.
