PlatinumGames still wants to develop Bayonetta as a character and broaden her world, according to studio president Atsushi Inaba. His comments signal continued interest in the series, but they are not an announcement of Bayonetta 4 or any other new project.
Inaba discussed the character during a Famitsu interview with Shift Up chief executive and Stellar Blade director Hyung-tae Kim. Famitsu published the conversation on September 20, before IGN returned to it on October 5. The interview was tied to the Bayonetta costume collaboration in Stellar Blade Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch 2.
What Inaba actually said
Asked whether PlatinumGames had another move planned for Bayonetta, Inaba said he could not answer. He then described a strong desire to expand both the character and her world, without identifying a format, platform, partner, development team or release window. When the interviewer pressed him about a sequel, he declined to comment.
That distinction matters. The remarks establish the studio’s creative interest, not the production status of a game. They do not confirm that development has started, that a concept has been approved or that the rights holders have agreed on a release. Treating the exchange as a sequel reveal would go beyond the interview.
The collaboration is the concrete news
The project discussed in detail is the Stellar Blade and Bayonetta crossover. Kim said the collaboration had long been an ambition and asked, partly in jest, to design a future Bayonetta character. Inaba welcomed the idea of further collaboration, while keeping any actual plans unspecified.
The Famitsu interview also describes four Bayonetta-inspired outfits for Stellar Blade Complete Edition. One is an original design by Kim rather than a direct recreation. The developers discussed the approval process and their effort to preserve Bayonetta’s identity while adapting the designs to Eve.
For now, players have a public statement of intent and a licensed costume collaboration, not a new Bayonetta release to add to a calendar. A real game announcement would need firmer details from PlatinumGames and its publishing partners.
