Hunt: Showdown 1896 Update 2.9.1 Adds Cursed Kin and Fixes Dark Sight Exploit

Hunters moving through a dark outdoor combat area in Hunt: Showdown 1896

Crytek has released Update 2.9.1 for Hunt: Showdown 1896, adding profile rewards tied to selected DLC and a four-part premium Story Challenge. The patch also closes an infinite Dark Sight exploit and addresses control, audio, interface and console problems.

The profile update gives owners of 12 named DLC packs the corresponding Hunter avatar automatically. Because Souls of a Feather includes separate avatars for Scourge: Morrigan and Scourge: Midian, the list contains 13 avatars in total. These are profile customization items; the patch notes do not describe them as new playable Hunters.

Cursed Kin has four chapters

The paid Cursed Kin challenge distributes two rewards in each chapter. Its progression starts with a Cousin Jed profile avatar and Legendary Hunter, followed by a Cursed Kin profile title and The Slasher Combat Axe skin. The third chapter offers a Cousin Jed profile frame and the Restless Rotation axe animation. The final chapter awards a Moses Family avatar and the Suffer the Silence charm.

Crytek’s notes list the structure and rewards but do not state a completion deadline or price. Players should check the live in-game listing before buying or planning a schedule rather than inferring terms that the announcement does not provide.

The fixes reach matches and menus

On every platform, Update 2.9.1 fixes inconsistent controller sprint behavior and an exploit that could produce unlimited Dark Sight in specific circumstances. It also corrects a lingering Bloodskin teleport sound near boss compounds, challenge tracking for piercing-damage kills on Armored enemies, and shared challenge progress after restoring a teammate’s health.

Several changes target the surrounding interface. Newly created Newsfeed entries should display more reliably, Blood Testament Battle Pass skins should become equippable without first unlocking their item variants, and the reward pop-up should appear when Event Points are earned without completing a goal. Crytek also corrected a case in which interacting with one Trait could sell two.

The console-specific list covers broken promotional links on PlayStation and Xbox, slow frontend images on PlayStation, and Quick Slot assignment failures on both consoles. Those fixes are narrower than a redesign: the notes identify corrected faults but make no broader performance claim.
