Xbox is turning Hollywood and Vine into a one-night Gears of War: E-Day installation on September 30. The Los Angeles event runs from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific, with the queue opening at noon. Entry is first come, first served, capacity is limited, and every guest must be at least 18 because the game and event are rated for mature audiences.
The first 500 guests can play early
The main draw is early hands-on access. The first 500 attendees will be able to play Gears of War: E-Day before its Early Access release. Xbox also plans giveaways, themed food and drinks, an airbrush Gears tattoo, and a photo booth.
An Emergence Hole and a Corpser statue will reshape the intersection around imagery from the game’s Emergence Day. The setup draws on Kalona, the game’s setting, and is designed for both returning fans and people approaching Gears for the first time.
Cosplay and merchandise affect the queue
Guests who arrive in Gears cosplay can enter a contest with categories for best COG armor and best Gears-themed gear. Prizes include a Gears of War: E-Day-inspired Xbox Design Lab controller created with illustrator Luke Preece. Wearing official Gears merchandise also provides access to a faster line.
Neither perk guarantees admission once the site reaches capacity. Anyone traveling specifically for the event should plan around the noon queue time rather than the 3 p.m. opening. The announcement does not describe reservations, remote participation, or a second date.
