Dune: Awakening is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Game Pass. The console release arrives with an update aimed at players who want more control over difficulty, PvP exposure, and progression. A full single-player mode is the largest addition, but combat, story rewards, Landsraad ranks, and Arrakis itself have also changed.
Solo play has its own controls
The new single-player mode includes three difficulty presets. Players can also tune individual settings such as sandstorm behavior, harvesting and experience multipliers, building limits, and item durability. PvP is optional, and the available activities can be played in PvE.
Those controls make the Xbox launch easier to approach from different directions. A player interested in base building can reduce some survival friction, while someone who wants pressure can keep harsher settings. The options do not turn the game into a different genre, but they let solo players adjust the pace without relying on a populated server for every goal.
Book One now has an ending
The update adds The Great Convention Part III, the final chapter of Book One. Existing story missions now provide new rewards, including color swatches, weapon and armor variants, and decorations. New players can therefore move through the current story in sequence rather than reaching an unfinished endpoint.
Combat receives a larger parry window, new NPC animations, adjusted enemy stamina, AI changes, and a dash that can pass through enemies. Dual Blades and the Pyrocket join the weapon pool, while the Rapier has been redesigned around parrying.
Landsraad and exploration expand
The Landsraad endgame now uses missions across 20 ranks, beginning at outsider and progressing toward Atreides Envoy or Harkonnen Enforcer. A Specializations system lets players invest in crafting, gathering, exploration, combat, and sabotage. Arrakis gains seven mission locations, six Imperial Testing Stations, additional contracts, and dynamic encounters.
Xbox players should separate launch availability from account or save assumptions. The announcement confirms the supported Xbox versions and Game Pass access, but players moving from another platform should verify character transfer and account rules before buying add-ons or committing to a server. For newcomers, the solo presets and optional PvP provide a clearer starting point than the original survival structure.
