Afterburner Studios has released a free PlayStation 5 demo for Elta: Defy All Gods. It covers the opening stretch of the action-platformer, giving players an early look at its melee combat, traversal and frozen first setting before the full game arrives on February 2, 2027.
What the demo includes
The opening sends warrior monk Victus into Lerna, a glacial world marked by ruins and industrial remains. His immediate goal is to recover Elta, the missing dragon-god at the center of both the story and the game’s ability system. Corrupted enemies and platforming routes introduce the main parts of play without promising access to the entire adventure.
Afterburner describes the design as a “brawlervania,” combining hand-to-hand encounters with non-linear exploration. Victus has three martial-arts stances, each tied to its own skill tree, while accumulated energy can be spent on larger magical attacks. The movement set expands through familiar tools such as a double jump, dash, wall run and grapple. Elta later adds abilities that affect both combat and access to previously unreachable areas.
A focused preview rather than the full journey
The studio says the complete game spans three interconnected science-fiction worlds. That makes the demo a starting sample: it can show how fighting and aerial movement fit together, but it does not establish the scale or pacing of the later regions. Players interested in the mix can evaluate the controls and opening structure without treating the demo as evidence of how every area will play.
The PlayStation Blog announcement was written by Afterburner co-founder and game director Ian Cofino. He also identified Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, God of War, Darksiders and Jak and Daxter among the team’s influences. Those comparisons describe creative reference points, not a promise that Elta will reproduce those games.
The PS5 version uses DualSense haptics for punches and platforming impacts. The studio’s announcement confirms the free demo, the February 2 release date and an optional Vanguard Armor cosmetic for pre-orders. It does not report a demo end date, so availability should be checked directly on PlayStation Store.
