Cyberpunk 2077’s free Edgerunners 2 Update is live now on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version arriving in the days to follow. CD Projekt Red labels the patch Update 2.5, and it folds content from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime directly into Night City.
The headline addition is a new side quest called Clampdown, set before the events of the anime. It unlocks after players complete The Heist and two gigs for the fixer Wakako, then wait for a message from her. Finishing the quest earns a five-piece gear set based on the character King. The studio frames the gig as a prequel to the series, so it works whether you watch the show before or after playing, and it is designed not to spoil Edgerunners 2 for newcomers.
The update also reworks combat with a new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree. Alongside four auxiliary perks, it lets V dual-wield pistols and revolvers from the Power category, a playstyle CD Projekt Red describes as one of the biggest combat additions since Update 2.0 introduced throwing knives. The change leaves the existing perk tree intact, so returning players can try it on a current save rather than starting over.
Beyond the quest and the perk, the patch adds a new HKGN 102.0 FM radio station carrying tracks from both Edgerunners seasons, five purchasable outfit sets spread across Night City’s clothing vendors, hand-cyberware customization at five Glamdoc clinics, and a set of hairstyles previously reserved for NPCs. A guided side quest called Welcome to Paradise, narrated by Richard Night, opens a longer tour of the city once you finish The Heist and reach level 15 Street Cred.
A first step toward cross-platform modding also arrives through mod.io, letting players browse and install a selection of community mods from an in-game menu across PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox. The patch notes round out the release with quality-of-life changes such as saves grouped by playthrough, stash item filters, a console field-of-view slider, updated AMD FSR options, and DLSS 4.5 support. The update is free for existing owners.
