Counter-Strike 2 received a smaller follow-up update on September 23, one day after Valve introduced Rush. The patch changes match pacing, explains the new crosshair units, and fixes several animation problems. Rush players will notice the clearest difference at the end of a round: the maximum countdown after an elimination is now 14 seconds on end rooms and Convoy, up from seven.
Rush gets more time and less dead air
The extra countdown time gives surviving players a wider window to finish a round after an elimination. Valve also stopped that countdown from activating when a whole team disappears through suicides, team kills, or disconnects. Warmup after every player connects is shorter, as are freeze time and technical timeout time. Gap and clipping fixes round out the map-side changes.
Those adjustments pull Rush in two directions. Active rounds can breathe for longer when a fight is still alive, while the pauses around play take less time. Players learning the mode should expect fewer abrupt endings without a matching increase in setup delays.
Crosshair values now describe pixels
Valve also documented the crosshair system added with the larger Rush Hour update. Thickness and length now use pixel values rather than an arbitrary scale converted according to resolution. A crosshair with thickness 1, length 8, and gap 4 therefore describes a one-pixel line, an eight-pixel bar, and a four-pixel gap at the reference resolution.
The game rescales those values when the display resolution changes. A two-pixel thickness at 1280 by 720 becomes four pixels at 2560 by 1440, keeping the proportions consistent. The update adds half-outlines, fixes zero-width gaps, introduces a static square style, and lowers the minimum dynamic spread distance to 64 pixels. Dynamic styles represent weapon spread and inaccuracy, while the Dynamic Spread Limit caps the maximum visual expansion.
Reload animations and clan tags
The remaining fixes target silent reloads. Left-handed viewmodels, third-person player models, and first-person Dual Berettas should now animate correctly in the affected cases. Clan tags also appear in death notices again. Players who copied an old crosshair should check its appearance after the unit change rather than assuming the same numbers will produce the old result.
