Albion Online’s Dragonfire Patch 3 sharply increases access to Small Ancient Lands Portals in Yellow Zones, but pairs that convenience with lower rewards. Sandbox Interactive released the update on October 12.
Yellow Zone portals trade rewards for availability
The average spawn time for a Small Portal in a Yellow Zone falls from 45 minutes to 15.5 minutes. The chance of a portal appearing in a region rises from 25% to 33%, its lock period drops from 15 minutes to five, and players have 10 minutes rather than eight to enter after it unlocks.
Those portals now award 30% less Fame and loot. The reduction is limited to Small Portals reached from Yellow Zones. Small Portals in Red and Black Zones keep their existing rewards, although their regional appearance chance also rises to 33% and their entry window expands to 10 minutes. Medium and Large Portal rewards are unchanged. Large Portals should appear 50% more often, with more spawns during prime-time hours.
Ancient Lands enemies and Maeve become less punishing
Enemy health and damage fall by 10% in Small and Medium Portals and by 20% in Large Portals. The patch also shifts part of the value from four regular Drake chests into the central Fire Drake chest, where new artifact items have a higher drop chance.
Maeve’s final phase receives targeted changes. Below 40% health, she summons two extra boulders instead of three, reducing the maximum from six to five. Normal Primal Dragon Flame damage drops from 1,250 to 1,150, while Storm Spires appear every 55 seconds instead of every 45. A rare double hit from Boulder Charge has also been fixed.
Open-world dragons keep some lost progress
An open-world dragon that resets no longer returns to full health. It instead recovers to the last 20% threshold the group reached; a reset at 72%, for example, returns the dragon at 80%. Might rewards from these encounters increase by 150%.
Mobile players can enable target filters for all targets, enemies, party members or allies, plus an automatic mode based on the current party and abilities. These filters are disabled by default. A separate Double Tap to Self-Cast option is enabled by default and can be switched off to prevent accidental self-casts during repeated taps.
The patch also changes several weapons and armor pieces and fixes interface, controller, combat and localization issues. Players focused on Ancient Lands should distinguish the easier access in non-lethal zones from the unchanged high-reward structure in lethal zones.
