The League of Legends Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage field is locked at 16 teams, and Riot Games has published the full format and schedule. The Swiss Stage runs October 23 through 31 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, before the knockout rounds move to a single-elimination bracket and a November 14 final at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Karmine Corp claimed the last spot through the Play-In, a four-team, best-of-five, double-elimination bracket held in Los Angeles, joining G2 Esports and Movistar KOI as the third LEC team in the main event.
How the Swiss Stage works
The Swiss Stage is a five-round competition in which teams need three match wins to advance to the knockout stage, and three losses to be eliminated. After Round 1, teams are paired against opponents with the same record, so a 2-0 team only faces other 2-0 teams. No team can meet the same opponent twice, and same-region matchups are allowed starting in Round 2.
For Round 1, Riot seeded the field into four draw tiers. Tier 1 faces Tier 4, and Tier 2 faces Tier 3, with no same-region matchups in the opening round. Gen.G, Anyone’s Legend, Team Liquid Alienware, and G2 Esports sit in Tier 1, while T1, LYON, Movistar KOI, and Top Esports are in Tier 3.
The 16 teams, by region
The field is one of the broadest a Worlds main stage has carried in recent seasons. The LPL and LCK each send four teams, the LEC sends three, the LCS and Asia-Pacific LCP each send two, and Brazil’s CBLOL sends one. That puts both Brazil and Asia-Pacific in the Swiss Stage this year.
Schedule
The Swiss Stage runs October 23 through 31. The knockout stage follows in November: quarterfinals November 3 through 6 and semifinals November 7 and 8 in Allen, with the final on November 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Broadcast start times shift partway through the stage because daylight saving ends in Europe on October 25, so fans planning a viewing schedule should check each day’s start time rather than assuming it holds.
