AMD’s FSR 4.1 upscaler now runs on Radeon RX 6000 series cards, the first time the machine-learning upscaler has reached GPUs that shipped in 2020. The support lands in the free Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver and gives owners of those older cards a clear image-quality gain over the FSR 3.1 path they were limited to before.
FSR 4 launched in 2025 as a Radeon RX 9000 exclusive, built around the dedicated AI hardware in RDNA 4. AMD brought FSR 4.1 to RX 7000 cards in July 2026, and the 26.10.1 driver now closes the gap for RX 6000. Each step required AMD to rework the model for weaker silicon. RDNA 2 has no dedicated AI accelerators, so AMD tuned an INT8 version of the model first built for RX 7000 to run without that matrix hardware.
The same release reaches past desktop GPUs. Ryzen AI Max systems are the first mobile APUs to run FSR 4.1 officially, covering high-end laptops and mini-PCs such as the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and TUF A14. For Ryzen AI 9 laptops and the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Z2 Extreme and Z2 A chips inside handhelds, AMD built a smaller model tuned for battery life and thermals. AMD names the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X as one target and says availability and timing vary by device, deferring to each handheld maker’s schedule.
Xbox is confirmed but undated. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet appears in AMD’s announcement video to confirm FSR 4.1 is coming to Series X|S, which share the same RDNA 2 lineage as the RX 6000 cards AMD just added. Neither company has given a date for the console update.
Beyond the upscaler, the driver adds support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Final Fantasy Resonance, and it fixes stuttering in Modern Warfare 4 on RX 6000 cards and above. AMD also lists FSR 4 Vulkan support and frame-pacing improvements for FSR Frame Generation.
Steam Deck stays an open question on the PC side. The handheld uses a custom AMD APU on the same RDNA 2 architecture, but Valve controls the SteamOS software stack and has not said whether the Deck will receive FSR 4.1.
