Dota 2’s Trove of Terror Adds 15 Sets and a New Tidehunter Arcana

Dota 2 heroes fighting during a match on Valve’s official store page

Valve has released the Trove of Terror in Dota 2, adding 15 cosmetic item sets built around eldritch and otherworldly designs. The collection is available now through the game and includes one new Arcana, one returning Arcana, and additional appearances for Tormentor and Roshan.

Tidehunter gets the new Arcana

The new Arcana is Maw of the Megalodon for Tidehunter. Valve says it changes the hero’s model and includes custom animations, effects, taunts and voice lines. The design also has three shark-themed forms that can be unlocked by mastering its associated objectives, although the announcement does not spell out those requirements.

Drow Ranger’s Arcana is the returning item. It keeps its earlier appearance as an option and adds what Valve calls a grave-stalking form. Tidehunter’s cosmetic is new; Drow Ranger’s is an older Arcana returning with an additional look.

Treasure openings also lead to Tormentor and Roshan rewards

Every one of the 15 sets carries Immortal and Fantastical effects, according to Valve. The collection also links the number of treasures opened to two larger rewards. An all-seeing Tormentor appearance is guaranteed after one threshold, followed by a new Roshan design at a higher threshold.

Valve did not publish those opening thresholds in its announcement. It directs players to launch Dota 2 for the full in-game details. Anyone considering the collection should therefore check the current client for the exact progression, availability and purchase terms rather than infer them from the promotional description.

What Valve has confirmed

The official notice confirms the size of the collection, the two Arcana items and the Tormentor and Roshan appearances. It does not describe a balance patch, new hero abilities or a competitive rules change. Trove of Terror is a cosmetic release, so its additions alter character and creature presentation rather than Dota 2’s underlying match mechanics.

The release follows The International 2026, but Valve presents the collection as a standalone in-game treasure. No end date appears in the announcement. Players who want a specific set should verify the current terms inside Dota 2 before opening treasures.
