RuneScape Reignited Starts a Separate Economy on December 2

RuneScape character overlooking a fantasy landscape

Jagex will launch RuneScape Reignited on December 2 as a permanent character type built around a fresh economy. Reignited characters will play alongside existing, or “Veteran,” characters in shared worlds, but the two groups will not be able to trade with each other.

A new market without erasing existing progress

The separation extends to the Grand Exchange. Veteran characters keep the current exchange, while Reignited characters receive their own market and hiscores. Jagex says characters cannot switch between the two types, because doing so would undermine the distinct economies.

The arrangement is not a server-wide reset. Current characters and their progress remain in place. Both character types can chat, join the same clans and participate in homesteads together, although boss instances and trade remain separated by character type. Reignited-only worlds will also be available.

Launch access and progression rules

Reignited launches with the Adventure Guide and an update to RuneScape’s early-game journey. Jagex describes the guide as part of an effort to give new and returning players a clearer route through the game’s long progression path.

Every Reignited character will receive access to members’ worlds from December 2 through December 12. After that introductory period, the character type requires its own membership. Jagex says paid progression will not be available, although cosmetic overrides can still be sold through the marketplace. Radiant stars will not be offered to Reignited characters.

What a fresh economy changes

A separate market means materials that are plentiful in the mature Veteran economy may initially be scarce for Reignited players. That could make gathering and production roles more important at launch, but Jagex has not promised any particular price pattern. The studio also says there is no predetermined date for merging the economies.

Reignited restores world-first targets through a Hall of Legends. Players who complete designated achievements first can receive a permanent in-game statue tied to the character and achievement. Jagex lists combat, skills, quests and exploration among the eligible areas, with more rules due before launch.

The announcement was made during the RuneFest 2026 Summit. Jagex plans to publish more details on the Adventure Guide, remastered early content and anti-cheat rules before December 2.
